Government Relations

Welcome to the Government Relations link on the KEC website. I'm Dave Holthaus, Manager of Government Relations at KEC.

I have worked in the electric industry for 32 years and have lobbied for the past 15 years.  One thing is certain under the dome, legislators change (40 in 2010 alone) and that necessitates that we educate our citizen legislature on the electric industry and specifically the electric cooperatives.  We take that challenge seriously and take pride in representing our 29 distribution and 2 G&T cooperatives.  We strive to accurately present legislators the cooperative position on issues, to assist us in providing reliable, low cost, clean energy alternatives.  Kansas electric cooperatives are fortunate to have concerned and helpful legislators supporting us and we want them to know we appreciate their hard work on our memberships behalf.

As legislators change, so too do changes in laws, staff and procedures. We want you to be aware of the updates in a timely and accurate manner. Please review the links listed on the left and contact me with your concerns.
