Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.

Twenty-five Kansas youths attended the 44th Annual “Government in Action” Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 16-23, 2005. They joined more than 1,500 high school students from across the nation. These students learned about electric cooperatives, American history and U.S. government. They visited with our Congressmen and Senators, attended educational seminars, and saw the sights around Washington, D.C. Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in Colorado

From July 16-22, 2005, 23 Kansas youths attended the “Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp” in Colorado. They were joined by three Kansas youths who attended the camp in 2004 and were selected by their peers to return this year as ambassadors. Students from Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Wyoming formed their own cooperative, toured a coal-fired generation plant and large coal mine, conducted a legislative simulation, and took in the sights of the beautiful Steamboat Springs area.
